You probably know someone in your life who is extraordinarily happy. Conditions never seem to get them down, and they rarely appear upset, stressed, or uptight. Have you wondered what their secret might be?
What makes people happy turns out to be extremely simple. Happy people aren’t richer, better looking, better educated, better paid, better trained, or better equipped.
The happiest people are happy by choice. They simply choose happiness.
In a universe of infinite possibility, they opt for happiness.
The happiest people understand that what makes people happy has almost nothing to do with what goes on externally in life – all of the people, places, events, that make up our days – and has everything to do with the way they choose to regard all of the things in their lives.
Many of us fall into the conditional happiness trap. We identify a set of conditions in our lives that, if changed, would produce happiness; while those perceived roadblocks to happiness remain in place, we feel we have an excuse not to be happy. After all, who could be happy without X or Y falling into place?
But the truth about happiness is that it is a quality we bring to life, not a commodity we gain from life.
It has been said that if you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
Below is a happiness and relaxation meditation designed to help you choose happiness in this moment, and in every moment.
